Inspiration: Maeva was deeply inspired by an incredible woman I met in chat rooms in the mid-1990s. She was more than fifteen years my senior and went by the name “The Glove Lady.” Like me, she was a huge glove enthusiast, and she played a major role in helping me accept my fetish. I never met her in person, nor did I ever learn her real name, yet we chatted several times a week for a good ten years. We knew almost everything about each other; she was extremely wealthy but never made a big deal out of it. She passed away in the mid-2000s after battling Alzheimer’s disease for several years. Her daughter wrote to me personally to break the news, telling me that I was the first person outside the family to be informed. In her email, she explained that it had been her mother’s wish for me to know, as she considered me her most sincere friend. I was in shock and felt a profound void for years after her passing. The connection between Maeva and Charles is a real-life echo of the bond that existed between The Glove Lady and me. I pay her a personal tribute by making her the central character of my series, *The Manor*.
